Support Public Safety

As a former deputy marshal and S.W.A.T. team member, I've stood shoulder to shoulder with first responders in defense of our citizens. They are some of the most under paid and under appreciated of all county employees. Forsyth County Public Safety workers have not had a merit pay or cost of living raise in three years. Nor do they even have a pension plan and the little they did have in a 401k plan has been slashed. Last year, they and their families suffered as nearly $6 million was slashed from their budget and dozens of vacant positions went unfilled while still risking their lives everyday for us, the citizens of Forsyth County. I will oppose any new budget that does not restore most, if not all, of their benefits.  We need to insure we hire, develop, and maintain the best first responders in North Georgia to continue to keep our citizens safe.
