Over 200 Attend Campaign Rally for District 3 Candidate
CUMMING -- Todd Levent's campaign for the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners got another major boost Sunday when an enthusiastic crowd of more than 200 supporters gathered at his Rally to Victory at Mardi Gras Plaza in Midway.
"This was very exciting," Levent said after the last plate of barbecue and final prize bag for children had been doled out. "From what everyone was saying, this was hands down the biggest rally of the campaign season. I'm humbled and honored that so many people attended and offered their support and well wishes."
Six weeks ago, the affable former deputy marshal and S.W.A.T. team member was little known outside the Sheffield subdivision that he and wife Dana call home. Now, many longtime observers of the Forsyth County political scene say he is the clear frontrunner.
The event seemed to energize Levent who has campaigned relentlessly since he announced his candidacy. As the music played and families enjoyed their meals at picnic tables set up in the Mardi Gras Plaza, he decided to forego a formal speech and chose to visit with each family individually to discuss their concerns.
“I love meeting people and listening to what they have to say,” Levent said. “Listening seems to be a lost art among politicians, but it’s something I enjoy doing. To me, meeting everyone and getting to know them and their families has been the most enjoyable part of the campaign.” |
